“The true risks of travel are disappointment and transformation: the fear you’ll be the same person when you go home, and the fear you won’t.”
— Lands of Lost Borders: A Journey on the Silk Road by Kate Harris
I love to read as much or more than I love to travel to new lands. Of course I do. This need to share words and connect goes from paper to air, how it all started. The dreaming of far away places to explore while snuggled in my small cow town as a child. Lands that were filled with spice and color accessed by journeying through the pages.
I am about to go on a bit of trip in a short amount of time. A whole area of a map can be filled in kind of trip. And so I am reviving these pages in preparation.
Time to take that risk but the best news, I have never failed in my quest for change. My viewpoint, my waistline, my bank balance but most of all that inner maze that is my heart and mind.
Watch this space, stories to come.
PS. Kate Harris wrote a great book, a bicycle journey across Asia and the Silk Road. Read it with the warning, that’s a long road and lots of ‘Stans to cover.
